Marius Malanetchi is a Moldovan-Romanian cellist, gambist, and composer. After completing his early musical studies in his homeland, he continued his education at the Conservatory of Strasbourg, the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, and is currently studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. His mentors include Giovanni Gnocchi and Marco Testori (cello and baroque cello), Christoph Urbanetz (viola da gamba), and Herbert Lauermann, Klaus Lang and Olga Neuwirth (composition).

He divides his time equally between composition and performance, spanning modern and baroque cello as well as the viola da gamba. His dedication to both contemporary and historical performance practice lends a unique voice to his artistry, bridging styles and eras through a versatile approach to music.
