Pierre Boulez, founder of the IRCAM under the Place Stravinsky, has often referred to architectural revolutions, imagining that new musical materials, such as electronics, give rise to new forms. Engineering has a direct influence on both music and architecture.

In 2025, the Centre Pompidou is planning to extend its building by 2030: Beaubourg will be renewed with this underground ‘Agora’, while retaining its original structure. To celebrate the centenary of Pierre Boulez's birth and echo the forthcoming renovation of the Centre Pompidou, architects, researchers, and musicians are exploring the relationship between the places they work for and the music that is performed within their walls.
