The German word „spiel“ has the conotation of „game“ and „playing“. I liked the aspect of an irresponsible and sometimes rather cruel kind of „playing“. Sometimes the mood slips in a state off harmless distraction just to suddenly return to willful belligerence.
The piece is based on a chord-sequence which i consider as „functional“. The chords establish local moments of tension between more and less harmonic chords. Directional instrumantaions are contrasted by soft diffuse passages. Moments of stabilisation around axis tones are displaced by developing sections of chord interpolations.
The stability of the underlying harmonic pattern enabled me to be maximum irresponsible when making formal decisions.
