A Master Midi Keyboard with 88 keys (type Yamaha KX88) is required to trigger programs/events. Download the Midi Keyboard score with all instructions.
Use BCF-2000 or Lemur to control levels of treatment (change the "Midi device" menu and choose the midi input)
Sliders:
Control 1 [ctlin 7 1] = Ring Modulation 1 level in dB
Control 2 [ctlin 7 2] = Ring Modulation 2 level in dB and Ring Modulation 3 level in dB
Control 3 [ctlin 7 3] = Ring Modulation 4 level in dB
Control 4 [ctlin 7 4] = Ring Modulation 5 level in dB
Control 5 [ctlin 7 5] = Sinus (Tape) level in dB
Control 6 [ctlin 7 6] = Reverberation level in dB
Control 7 [ctlin 7 9] = Alto input level in dB
Control 8 [ctlin 7 10] = Cello input level in dB
Control 9 [ctlin 7 11] = Cor input level in dB
Control 10 [ctlin 7 12] = Trombone input level in dB
Control 11 [ctlin 7 13] = Clarinet input level in dB
Control 12 [ctlin 7 8] = Circuits
Control 13 [ctlin 7 7] = Factorization envelopes length (1 normal length, 2 two times longer, 0.5 two times shorter)
The three main windows of the concert patch are the main patch, vu-control and * vu-help*. They should all be open during the concert.
The DSP part consists of ring modulation and rhythmic spalization.
The routing of the ring modulation traitement is divided into three main parts. The alto and cello modulation (rm1, rm2 and rm3), the english horn and trombone modulation (rm4) and finally the clarinet and tape modulation (rm5).
For the first, the audio signal of each instrument could be either modulated by itself or they can be modulated together (cello modulate the alto). A tape signal (called sinus) could be mixed in the modulation.
Then, the signal of the english horn is modulated by the signal of the trombone, and the signal of the clarinet by a tape called sinus.
All the signals are filtered and reverberated in real time.
Sounds are fixed or they move using rhythmic movements.
Movements are controlled by the 9 patches called circuit, BNP and lope. Rhythms are controlled by the patcher generation. The three types of movements can be used at the same time. The global level of the moving sound can be controlled using the slider called circuits.
The sound envelope could be controlled with the fader superfac (midi control 13) which controls factorization of the envelope duration. The bigger superfac is, the longer will be the sound envelope in each HP.
Download and follow the instructions in the Computer Music Designer score.
The simulation files could be used to test the setup before the rehearsal.
