Michael M. Kasper was born in 1957 in Mainz, where he also received his first lessons in violoncello and recorder. He studied with Georg Donderer in Berlin, Siegfried Palm and Boris Pergamenschikow in Cologne, and graduated with honours and a recital diploma. Chamber music studies with the Amadeus and Alban Berg Quartets followed. He has been with Ensemble Modern since 1980, with a twelve year interlude as cellist in the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra. He is an admirer of vintage British cars and, living at Offenbach, he is a licensed member of the Offenbacher Kickers. http://www.ensemble-modern.com/en/ensemble_modern/members/
